Jane Britten, MA, RYT, RMT
After living in the nation’s capital for 15 years, Jane could no longer resist the pull of her ocean home. She returned to Nova Scotia in 2007 to dedicate her time to providing a healthy home life for her family and contributing to her community through the practice of compassionate, holistic health care through massage therapy and yoga.
Jane works with and respects patients wherever they may be on their healing path. Jane understands and applies the connections between how we use our bodies in daily life and the healing process, and supports patients in taking an active role in their own health care – after all, you are the expert when it comes to your own body! Jane takes a clinical approach to her work, taking the time to investigate and develop an evidence-based, effective treatment plan to help you get better and stay better. Jane is experienced in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, such as TMJD, frozen shoulder, whiplash, back pain, knee injuries and headaches, along with helping to relieve patients’ chronic pain, stress and anxiety, and to maintain overall health. She emphasizes whole-person, integrative treatment, with a special focus in myofascial techniques and personalized home care to maximize benefits between visits. Jane appreciates the opportunity to work with people at any age and stage of life, as well.
Jane is a 2014 honour roll graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Halifax and recipient of the Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia professionalism award, granted to the graduate who best exemplifies the qualities of a professional massage therapist.
Jane became a certified Kripalu yoga teacher in 2010 with a focus on emphasizing a safe and tailored approach to the exploration of yoga, both as a method of maintaining health and vitality and as a means of coping with the physical, mental and emotional challenges of life. She is currently studying yoga therapy in order to further support her students and patients.
